Two nights, and easy to get to
The most accessible serious wildlife area in Kenya, which is a large part of why it works so well on a short trip.
Getting there
- By road: three to four hours from Nairobi, on tarmac almost the whole way, past the flank of Mount Kenya. Genuinely pleasant, and the reason Ol Pejeta works with children.
- By air: scheduled flights to Nanyuki, about forty minutes from the conservancy gate.
- On the way north: it sits on the route to Samburu, so it slots in naturally on a longer itinerary.
How many nights
Two. That gives you three game drives, a night drive, the chimpanzee sanctuary and lion tracking if it is running.
One night is a rush and wastes the road transfer. Three is more than the conservancy needs unless you are photographing seriously or the rhino work is the specific reason you came.
Where to stay
Tented camps and lodges inside the conservancy, at a genuinely wide range of prices — including some of the most affordable conservancy accommodation in Kenya. There are also exclusive-use houses that suit families and small groups.
Because the conservancy fee is usually inside the rate, compare all-in figures rather than headline prices.
